Sue's Quilt
A friend from our quilting group loved this pattern, she only had a photo of the quilt so I said I would try and work out a pattern for her, as she wanted to make the quilt for her granddaughter. We didn't know the name of the quilt or who designed the original. I am going to call it Sue's quilt.
Block sizes
Finished 12 inches x 12 inches square
Unfinished 12.5 inches x 12.5inches square(with 1/4 inches seams)
Queen or King Size
She will need to make 72 blocks (8 x 9) Across and Down. The quilt should measure 96 inches x 108 inches without borders. To make it larger she will just add 2-inch, 3-inch, 4-inch, and 5-inch borders to all sides of the top.
Block One
Unfinished 12.5 inches x 12.5 inches square(with 1/4 inches seams)
To make Block One.
Cut One - 12.5-inches x 12.5-inches square (White Main Colour)
Cut Four - 5.5-inches x 5.5-inches squares (Faun check Fabric BG colour).
Block Two
Unfinished 12.5 inches x 12.5inches square(with 1/4 inches seams)
To make Block Two.
Cut Eight 4.5-inches x 4.5-inches Squares (White Main Colour)
Cut One 4.5-inch x 4.5-inch Square (Rusty Brown Colour) for the centre square.
Cut Sixteen 1.5-inches x 1.5-inches Squares (Faun check Fabric BG colour) to snowball the corners.
Cut Four 1.5-inches x 1.5-inches Squares (White Main Colour) to snowball the centre square corners.
When you join these two blocks together into rows you get a secondary pattern, which looks complicated but in fact, these are two very easy blocks to make.
The first 3 Blocks are done the pattern is working out well.
Until next time
Happy Quilting
Anne
