Jenny's Modern Quilt

My girlfriend daughter Jenny who is only 28 with four small children, has been battling Leukemia for some time, the good news is that her sister is a perfect matched donor so Jenny is having a Stem cell transplant tomorrow. The hope is that the transplant, using her sister bone marrow can rebuild the supply of normal blood cells and then Jenny's immune system will kick back into action and regenerate.

Jenny loves this modern art, so I have been busy over the Christmas holidays and New Year designing and making her a quilt, based on the Modern Art that is hanging in her house. These colours are not in my colour range but Jenny loves them and that’s what important.

This is the quilt top I designed for her.

This is the back of the quilt, as you can see I've used leftover blocks and almost all of the leftover fabric from the front has gone into the back. No wastage here.

I had some leftover star blocks from Dylan's quilt which were perfect for labels, Jenny's mom asked the members of her family to write messages of encouragement, hope and love on the hexagon's, now Jenny can take the quilt with her into hospital to comfort her when she is in the isolation room for four weeks.

My favourite message on this quilt was "In those moments when you are alone know that we are with you - our love is wrapped around you always". Good luck Jenny we are all in your corner.

Until next time happy quilting
Anne
