Antique Lace Quilt

Antique Lace Quilt

I am in love with this quilt! And the name Antique Lace fits it perfectly. Thank you Missouri Star for this lovely pattern". When I was assembling these blocks I was also surprised and thrilled to discover the secondary block that appears out of nowhere!

This pattern looked complex, but it comes together very easily with a few twists and turns of a half-square triangle block.

The finished size of the original quilt made by Missouris Star was 73" x 73" but I planned to make mine bigger by adding a border of half blocks on 3 sides.
This awesome quilt pattern only needed 2.5" strips which I plan to cut from my fabric stash using greens and purples as I don't have any jelly rolls in those colors.

Below is a photo of one of the unfinished blocks before it was sewn together.

Make one block I will need to make 32 half-square triangles (HST).

Cut 2 white strips 2½̎ x Width Of Fabric (WOF)
Cut 2 colored strips 2½̎ x WOF
Sew 2½̎ strips of the main color and 2½̎  of background color together to form a tube.
Using Trimmer B Triangle line up the 3̎  line on the triangle and cut on both sides of the template and make 32 half-square triangles, flip and cut the template all the way along the tube strips.
Each completed block will need 32 Half Square Triangles

First Unit Pin Wheel make 1

Take 4 half square triangles all seams to the center sew light-dark. And make the center pinwheel.

Second Unit Flying Geese make 4

Cut 8 x 5½̎ x 3̎  Rectangles Back Ground (BG) Fabric (white)

Sew 2 HST together BG (white) blocks facing each other to make a flying geese block (Make 4)
Sew one x 5½̎ BG (White) Rectangle to each end of the flying Geese.

Third Unit Corner Blocks make 4

Cut 16 x 3̎ x 3̎  Squares from the BG fabric (white)

You will use 5 x HST (Half Square Triangles)

Below is one corner of the block you will need four corner blocks makes one complete block.
